The “Germany – Country of Ideas” initiative and the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure have announced ten outstanding digital innovations for intelligent mobility / Dorothee Bär honoured the Dimoco Company TAF mobile GmbH and the easy.GO App in Berlin.
Berlin, 20 October 2016 – With the easy.GO app, the smartphone app for bus and rail local public transport services, TAF mobile GmbH, a Dimoco software company, is one of the ten prize winners of the German mobility award which is being launched this year. As part of the competition, the “Germany – Country of Ideas” initiative and the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure are giving awards to pioneering best practice projects in the field during the 2016 year of the competition. With the mobile solution easy.GO, TAF mobile is offering an innovative digital solution that makes mobility smarter by preparing information on the various transport options so that it is user friendly and there is also a facility to purchase tickets directly.
Around 350 start-ups, companies, associations and research institutions from all over Germany entered the competition with their Intelligent Mobility projects. A jury comprised of 16 experts and chaired by Dorothee Bär, Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary of State at the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, selected the ten prize-winning projects in the competition. Yesterday evening, together with Ute Weiland, Managing Director of the “Germany – Country of Ideas” initiative, Ms. Bär paid tribute to those in charge of the ten winning projects at a ceremony at the Ministry of Transport in Berlin.
“As an IT service provider, with easy.GO we are driving digital solutions in the field of public transport. We are working with our customers and on solutions to actively implement the Federal Government's 2020 digital agenda. With the easy.GO app we are supporting digital transport in the local public transport sector. The app is an important element in electronic ticket management in Germany,” said Tony Pucklitsch, project manager at TAF mobile GmbH.
When the prize winners were announced, Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure said: “The winners of the German mobility prize show that Germany can do Mobility 4.0!” In the opinion of Ulrich Grillo, President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and also President of Germany – Country of Ideas: “They are demonstrating how digital innovation in mobility is creating added value in society for everyone.”
The “easy.GO” app brings together information systems and ticket sales in one app as a smart mobility assistant: users can find the best connection for travel, locate the nearest stop, call up current departure times, display “Points of Interest” such as restaurants or places to visit, look for car- and bike-sharing stations, buy the appropriate ticket as a cashless purchase, load it directly onto the smartphone and receive live information about delays. Payment is taken with the mobile phone invoice or from the customer's corresponding prepaid account. The VRS region allows payments via PayPal and direct debit. This app provides special functions for elderly people and persons with visual impairment, thus making it easier for them to use local public transport. easy.GO started in 2008. Two hundred thousand people in the VRS (Cologne/Bonn), MDV (Leipzig/Halle), marego (Magdeburg) und VBB (Berlin/Brandenburg) regions use the app every day. easy.GO is available in the App Store, BlackBerry App World, Google Play, the Amazon App Shop and also as a web app to download FREE OF CHARGE.
