DIMOCO CORPORATE PRESS RELEASE: MVB launches easy.GO mobile phone app for timetable information and ticket purchase - a product of the Jena-based IT service provider TAF mobile GmbH and DIMOCO company

Magdeburg: From 1 August onwards users of public transport provided by Magdeburger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH & Co. KG (MVB) have a quick and easy way of making cashless ticket purchases for the entire marego network and obtaining information about connections using a smartphone. The easy.GO app makes this possible.

“Access to local public transport is made considerably easier by the mobile phone app. The app offers numerous advantages to both regular and new users of trains, trams and buses in Magdeburg and the surrounding area. You could say that the app means that I always have a timetable and ticket in my pocket,” says Thomas Webel, the Minister for Regional Development and Transport in the State of Saxony-Anhalt.

In addition to mobile tickets, the easy.GO app for bus and rail travel also supplies timetable information with real-time data and a location function. The price of the ticket is conveniently charged to the customer's mobile phone invoice or deducted from the prepaid credit. There is no need for a credit card or registration.

“With easy.GO it is even easier for passengers to use our services: there is no need to carry change, as it is easy and convenient to load my ticket on to my smartphone. Appropriate timetable information is available at the same time. All I have to do is to go to the bus stop,” says a delighted Birgit Münster-Rendel, the Managing Director of MVB, as she describes the new service for her customers.

The app is also useful for those who do not know the area: thanks to its location function, passengers are shown where to find the closest bus or tram stops. Then the bus stop monitor can be used to call up the departure times of the selected method of transport and routes. Routes can also be planned via the integrated timetable information facility. The data is provided by MVB's operational control system so that variations to the timetable can be displayed on the app. Information in the MVB's familiar disruption alert system can also be displayed.

easy.GO can be used without prior registration or an account using iOS, BlackBerry and Android-based smartphones and is available from 1 August 2016 to download from the app stores or at www.mvb-easygo.de.

MVB is particularly keen for the app to reach occasional users of public transport and those who currently travel by car. easy.GO can be used to purchase one-way tickets, day tickets and mini-group day tickets for marego's entire network. Apart from MVB as the operator of local public transport in the State capital of Magdeburg, this also includes public transport companies in the district of Salzland, the rural district of Börde and Jerichower Land, including the rail connections operated in these areas. Season tickets such as those paid for on a weekly or monthly basis and short-trip tickets are not available.

The easy.GO mobile app is a product of the Jena-based IT service provider TAF mobile GmbH and DIMOCO company. Tickets can already be booked by smartphone in the Halle-Leipzig (MDV) and the Cologne/Bonn (VRS) areas using the app. In Berlin and Brandenburg (VBB) the app operates as an information system. “With easy.GO our aim is to systematically integrate freely available information and data from all public transport systems throughout Germany and make it usable. The integration of the Magdeburg region has brought us one step closer to our objective,” says Jörg Wagner, Managing Director of TAF mobile GmbH.
